Hands On
Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church is directly involved with and provides monetary support to several local outreach organizations including The Caring Place, IHN, Glad House, Presbytery Mission and others.
G.L.A.D. House: Breaking the Cycle for over a decade
Glad House works with high risk youth who have been impacted emotionally and behaviorally by a family member with addiction. We provide long-term treatment for children ages 5-18 struggling with the consequences of living in an environment where drug and alcohol addiction are a reccurring cycle. Children learn through individual and group therapy how to cope with and ultimately move beyond this destructive family pattern.

I.H.N.
Interfaith Hospitality Network is a national response to our nation's homeless problems. It is a program that provides a safe place to sleep and three meals a day to families with children trying to get back on their feet. In Cincinnati, the IHN program consists of a day center and many congregations of our faith communities that provide overnight shelter and food for homeless families in the Cincinnati area.
At Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church we host up to 16 people for a week, six times a year. For these families volunteers prepare and provide hot meals, evening activities, and over night supervision. There are many opportunities for volunteers to help our IHN guests. Our rotations take place every 6-8 weeks. The guests arrive in evening around 5pm and have dinner with our volunteers. After dinner, they make lunches to take with them for the next day and enjoy various crafts and activities. They are picked up in the morning and transported to the day center early enough for the children to get to their schools. The congregations of Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church and Nativity Catholic Church join with us in support of this program.

The Caring Place
The Caring Place was established in 1982 by a coalition of churches serving Golf Manor, Kennedy Heights, Pleasant Ridge, and Silverton. Our goal is to provide a variety of services to members of our communities who find themselves in need of food, clothing, furniture, rent and utility assistance, family development and support groups.
